Mountain Area Gem and Mineral Association
33rd M.A.G.M.A. Land of the Sky, Gem, Mineral and Fossil Show
December 12th - 14th, 2025

Swannanoa, North Carolina

The 33rd M.A.G.M.A. gem show was busy as usual. Even with the threat of cold weather, our customers turned out in big numbers all three days. The holiday spirit was everywhere as they bought gifts for family and friends and enjoyed being around other like minded gem enthusiasts. As always, I give the credit for the success of all our shows to the awesome vendors we have, new and old. We have vendors that have been with me since we bagan, 33 shows ago back in 2012. We are adding many new top vendors every show. They are the best the mineral world has to offer and they provide the best gems, minerals and fossils in the southeast and our customers know it!

Enjoy the following photos and I hope that all of you have a fantastic Christmas and holiday season.

The flyer says it all!

We were happy to welcome back Bob Turner (Uncle Bob) and his sidekick, Murf, to the show.

Up. To. No. Good! 8^) Stephen and Santana have really built their business over the past couple of years and have some awesome jewelry they offer to our customers.

Santana's wirewraps are some of the best I have seen.

Ryan, trying to control himself.

Amanda and Logan

Picked up this cool bogwood slab from Logan for my collection.

Kids love the coin thingy. Drop in a coin and it spins in circles a minute or so before it drops into the money pit. All proceeds go to food and healthcare for stray/abandoned cats.

Merry Christmas! From Mr. Bobcat.

Carol and Mark and their jewelry setup.

Bruce

This is Cra and Zy.

The gemstone display was a big hit with our customers. Bruce Camaniti, Adam Rackman and I put together a set of top ruby and sapphire gems to educate people about what can be found right here in the mountains and all over the world. Some of natures finest.

A few historic photos of the Wood Creek Mine, Canton, NC from around 1988. Bruce had a machine at the site and unearthed some great blue sapphires. This mine is where about half the gems in the display came from. Dug by Bruce, Bill Mintz and myself.

Above left: Bruce hunting sapphires at Wood Creek, 1988. Above right: Fist sized blue sapphire in the creek. The stone cut from this piece was in the display.

This 1,100+ carat sapphire from Wood Creek was in the display.

Kala and Brenton

Longtime MAGMA members Brenda and Jerry Plowden visited us at the show. It was great seeing them!
